About Amy
How I Work
My therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic and relational therapy, mindfulness-based awareness, and compassion-focused, CBT-informed practices. This blend allows for both depth and practicality—helping clients explore the roots of suffering while learning to regulate, integrate, and live with greater self-alignment.
In therapy, I pay close attention to the body’s signals, the language of emotion, and the subtle patterns that form between people. Healing emerges when insight meets felt experience—when we connect what we know with what we feel.
The work moves beyond symptom relief toward something more enduring: a sense of coherence, authenticity, and inner steadiness that holds up in real life.
My Path
Helping has always been part of my nature. As a child, I would keep elderly customers company in the waiting area of my father’s auto repair shop. As a teen, I worked as a home health aide for hospice clients—an early encounter with the dignity of human fragility.
My career has taken me across many human landscapes. I worked with emotionally struggling youth and families in rural Kentucky, served for two years in the U.S. Peace Corps in Guatemala, and later supported individuals with severe and persistent mental illness in community mental health settings. Each experience deepened my understanding of resilience, suffering, and the universal need to be seen.
Who I Am
Beyond the therapy room, I am an artist and creative explorer, a lover of the natural world, and a believer in both serious contemplation and genuine play. My work and life are guided by the values of social justice, inclusion, and compassion. I offer affirming care to members of the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities and continually strive toward deeper cultural humility.
At heart, I believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every person—no exceptions.
